QUETTA: Students from the platform of the Baloch Students Council (BSC) have staged a protest against the abolition of scholarships by the administration of Bahaudin Zakaria University Multan.
Hundreds of students from Balochistan and FATA participated in a protest today (Friday) in Islamabad to demand issuance of quota scholarships to Baloch students in all departments of Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan.
During the protest, the students have said that all the discriminatory policies against Baloch students are taking place at a time a Baloch, Usman Buzdar is the Chief Minister of Punjab.
“We thought that now our days of sorrows are over. Unfortunately, during Sardar Usman Buzdar’s rule Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan abolished seats of Balochistan on open merit,” they added.
One of the protestors said that the university administration has also shown no flexibility in this regard and due to the irresponsible behavior of the university administration students have been protesting on the streets for 23 days.
The students further said that Balochistan is a province where the lack of education, health and other basic facilities has affected every section of the society. “Baloch students, who are studying in educational institutions of Punjab and other provinces, are constantly being harassed,” they added.
The protestors called on the government to look into their problem on an urgent basis and help them bring it to fruition as it is a question of the future of our students and the golden dreams of our new students.
