KARACHI: About 150 employees of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) have been deprived of their salaries since July 2018, while illegal appointments in the department on the rise.
According to sources, 150 employees of the KDA have been deprived of their salaries since July 2018, while 51 fake employees were made permanent in 2015.
Among the 51 employees recruited from the Gulistan-e-Jauhar division, “There are 27 fake employees whose dates of birth as NIC are 1989 and 1991. According to this calculation, these employees were 11 to 14 years old at the time of recruitment,” sources said.
Sources said the age limit required for recruitment in government departments at least 18 years. It clearly showed that the fake recruiters have made in the past.
KDA officers are involved in the recruitment of these employees, who had recruited their close relatives and the real brothers of many officers were also recruited.
Sources disclosed among the officers involved are Mehboob Alam, Director Admin Engineering, his two sons are also allegedly fake employees.
Former Chief Engineer Ram Chand, Chief Security Officer Rao Tariq and his two relatives Shamshir (late) officer were among the bogus recruitments. Admin Abdul Qadir Mangi allegedly received an enormous bribe from the 51 employees after giving them a permanent position.
Sources said that out of the total 51 permanent employees, a total of 30 employees of Gulistan-e-Jauhar were made permanent by showing work charge employees, out of which only three employees were real work in-charge, while 27 fake persons were made permanent by showing an employee of the department.
According to the deprived employees, they visited their senior officials several times pleading the release of their salaries but to no avail.
The employees said that they were unable to run household expenses and pay the children’s school fees. They demanded that the provincial government and concerned authorities should take notice of the issue.
