ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has approved holding general elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly.
The general elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly will be held on 15th November. The president approved the summary sent by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Earlier, general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan were scheduled for 18th August but were postponed. On 30th March, the Supreme Court of Pakistan allowed the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Supreme Court, while hearing the petition seeking the establishment of caretaker elections and general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, gave a brief verdict allowing amendment in the Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018.

It should be noted that giving the powers of the province to Gilgit-Baltistan was decided only in practice. Legally, this is not possible until a referendum is held on the occupation of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The GB Order 2018 was challenged by locals in the Gilgit Appellate Court, but the court suspended the order, but the Supreme Court of Pakistan reinstated the Order 2018 in August 2018.
An important meeting was also held this month under the chairmanship of the prime minister in Gilgit-Baltistan regarding the third constitutional elections and the formation of a caretaker government.
