ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing and the Facebook administration have decided to share data on cyber crimes against women and children.
According to a press statement issued by the agency, FIA will appoint focal persons for the cybercrime wing in every province of Pakistan.
These focal persons, in turn, will contact Facebook to obtain necessary statistics on the cyber crimes committed against women and children.
This was decided in a meeting of FIA officials and the Facebook administration during a webinar.

Earlier, A management team of Facebook from its headquarters of Asia Pacific, headed by Amber Hawkes, the head of Safety Policy APAC and Michael Yoon, the Manager Trust and Safety APAC, had visited the FIA headquarters.
The team visited the office of Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Wajid Zia and met with the high-ups of the agency and discussed issues of data sharing and to ensure the cybersecurity of social media users.
Both the sides discussed the issues of cooperation and data sharing between FIA and Facebook
Additional Director General of FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing (CCW) Ehsan Sadiq and Director CCW Waqar Ahmed Chohan had briefed the FB team about the role of the wing in combating cybercrime.
