KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today (Thursday) hovered within a narrow range but managed to close the session on a positive note.
The benchmark KSE-100 index gained 350.13 points in early trading and touched its intraday high of 42,632.41 points. It then lost momentum and fell to an intraday low of 42,276.59 points.
The KSE-100 index settled flat by 52.48 points at 42,334.76 points. Gaining 236.10 points the KMI 30 index ended at 67,899.03 points, while the KSE All Share index closed at 30,065.22 points gathering 23.06 points.
Indices swayed in both directions in search of a clear direction while volumes improved from the last session. Overall market volumes surged from 489.60 million shares in the last session to 508.69 million shares.
Sectors driving the KSE 100 index north included the Chemical sector (22.98 points), Technology and Communication sector (16.55 pts), and Oil and Gas Exploration sector (14.15 points).
The Technology and Communication sector gained 2.87 percent in its total market capitalization. NetSol Technologies Limited (NETSOL 8.83 percent), Worldcall Telecom (WTL 2.38 percent), and TPL Trakker Limited (TPLT 1.69 percent) all ended positive.
