KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today (Thursday) witnessed a bullish trend as KSE 100 index closed at 42,188.11 points with a positive change of 353.26 points (0.84 percent).
Gaining 378.08 points the KSE 100 index jumped to an intraday high of 42,212.93 crossing the 42,000 marks. The index settled with the addition of 353.26 pts at 42,188.11.
Meanwhile, the KMI 30 index gained 701.95 points ending at 67,533.60. While the KSE All-share index closed higher by 303.31 points at 29,780.50.
The investors of the Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed another exciting session as they saw volumes jump to the highest level seen in a decade.
Overall market volumes surged past 900 million mark for the first time in a decade. On DoD basis, total market volumes went up from 837.02 million shares to 919.45 million shares.
As many as 439 companies transacted shares in the Stock Market, out of which 322 recorded gain and 97 sustained losses whereas the share price of 20 companies remained unchanged.
Sectors driving the KSE 100 index north included the Cement sector (83.52 points), the Banking sector (49.21 points), and the Oil and Gas Marketing sector (41.77 points). Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited (MLCF 29.00 pts), Systems Limited (SYS 26.80 pts) and MCB Bank Limited (MCB 24.33 pts) led the volume chart.
