ISLAMABAD: The coronavirus has claimed 10 more lives in Pakistan and 424 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has reached 297,014 and 6,328 people have lost their lives. According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operations Center, there are 8,761 coronavirus active cases in the country.
There are facilities for coronavirus patients in 735 hospitals in Pakistan and the number of ventilators for coronavirus patients in hospitals is 1,920. According to NCOC, 1,088 patients are currently hospitalized.
The number of coronavirus cases in Sindh has reached 129,827. 96,983 cases were reported in Punjab, 36,340 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 12,935 in Balochistan, 15,689 in Islamabad, 2,305 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and 2,935 in Gilgit.
The coronavirus has caused 2,205 deaths in Punjab and 2,415 in Sindh. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has 1,255, Islamabad 175, Balochistan 143, Gilgit-Baltistan 71, and Azad Kashmir 64 deaths from coronavirus.
There are 132 testing laboratories operating in the country and trace, test, and quarantine strategies are working effectively in several cities. the number of infections has plummeted in recent weeks, with Covid-19 deaths hovering in the single digits each day while India tallies hundreds of fatalities.
To date, the country has confirmed more than 296,000 infections and currently is recording a few hundred new cases per day.
