ISLAMABAD: Rain with a thunderstorm is expected in most parts of the country today.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), thunderstorms and rain are likely in most parts of the country today. There will be downpours in Central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir.
Rain with strong winds is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan. The weather will remain hot and humid in most districts of Balochistan on Wednesday.
The rains continued intermittently in most parts of the country yesterday, ending the heat and confinement. Most parts of Sindh, Kashmir, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan received showers with strong winds and thundershowers.
The highest rainfall of 154 mm was recorded in the Joharabad area of Punjab yesterday while 126 mm in Noorpur Thal, 114 mm in Attock, 93 mm in Sargodha, 85 mm in Layyah, and 87 mm in Chakwal. 79 mm in Islamabad, 56 mm in Bhakkar, 55 mm in Bahawalpur, and 53 mm in Multan.
The highest rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was recorded at Malam Jabba (176 mm), Patan (101 mm), DI Khan (78 mm), Kalam (76 mm), Dir (62 mm), and Peshawar (37 mm).
Muzaffarabad in Kashmir received 84 mm of rain, Garhi Dupatta 28 mm, Kotli 09 mm, and Rawalkot 04 mm. In the area of Gilgit-Baltistan, 34 mm of rain was recorded, 14 mm in Darosh, and 02 mm in Astor.
Rains across the country have caused rivers and streams to overflow, while many riverside villages have been evacuated in anticipation of possible flooding.
