KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bullish trend on the first day of the week (Monday) as the KSE-100 Index closed at 41,110.93 points, gaining 54.71 points.
The KSE 100 index surged by 200.13 points as trading resumed reaching the highest mark in intra-day trading at 41,311.06 points. The indices slipped by 294.5 points reaching the lowest level at 41,016.56 points.
The bulls eventually settled with a gain of 54.71 points at 41,110.93 points. A total of 451,737,492 shares worth Rs16.3 billion were traded as opposed to 238,567,769 shares worth Rs8.4 billion traded the previous day.
The lower bench KSE 30 index gained 11.80 points and closed at 17,707.20 points. The total volume of scripts was 126.597 million. The KMI 30 index also gained 329.23 points and closed at 65,651.60, while All-Share Index gained 153.15 points and closed at 28,960.99 points.
Some 198 of the 413 companies that transacted shares in the stock market registered gains whereas 196 sustained losses, while the share price of 19 remained unchanged.
Bank Islami Pakistan (BIPL), TRG Pakistan Limited (TRG), and Power Cement Limited (POWER) were among the top traded companies. The closing prices of BIPL, TRG, and POWER were Rs8.99, Rs 63.21, and Rs0.15 per share, respectively.
The latest performance on the closing day of August means the KSE-100 Index made an overall gain of 1,852.49 points during the month. In July, the index was up by 4,836.92 points.
Hence, the market has managed to cut the losses suffered earlier in March when the index was down by over 10,000 points.
