NEW YORK: The final tweet from the account of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman has become the most-liked tweet in Twitter history, surpassing seven million as of Saturday.
43-year-old actor Chadwick Boseman, who played the iconic lead as the regal Black Panther in Marvel’s blockbuster movie franchise, died on Friday of stage IV colon cancer.
Chadwick Boseman’s family posted a final tweet on his Twitter account, announcing that he had died after a four-year battle with colon cancer. Twitter confirmed that this tweet from Boseman’s account has created history by becoming the most-liked Twitter post.
“Most liked tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever,” Twitter posted on its official account. His last tweet amassed 7.4million likes and 3million retweets as of Saturday.

The original tweet from Boseman’s account said the actor had lived with colon cancer for the last four years, even while filming a number of movies between countless surgeries and chemotherapy, before it finally progressed and he succumbed to the illness.
It added: “The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.” Previous records were set by happier posts from the likes of Barack Obama, BTS, and Ariana Grande, among others.
