ISLAMABAD: Around 264 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan, taking the number of confirmed cases to 295,636.
The total number of deaths from the coronavirus is eight across the country has risen to 6,288. As many as 280,547 patients have recovered from the disease.
Following a sharp increase in the cases, the number of patients swelled to 96,741 in Punjab. The province reported 2195 coronavirus (COVID-19) causalities.
A partial lockdown has been imposed across the province to stem the spread of the infection. The government has also launched the Insaf Imdad Program to help the poor segments of society in difficult times.
Sindh has started easing lockdown restriction as it has allowed some industries to resume operations. The cases of infection have surged to 129,268 in the province, the most affected region in Pakistan. The death toll has reached 2395 in the province.
The confirmed cases have surged to 36,017 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is leading other regions with more causalities as toll has surged to 1250 in KPK.
There are 12,842 confirmed cases while 141 patients died of the infection so far in Balochistan. There are 2,863 coronavirus cases in Gilgit-Baltistan while 64 patients including a young doctor have died due to the infection. As many as 1566 people have recovered from the infection. There are 2,274 cases in AJK while 61 deaths have been reported. There are 15,611 cases in Islamabad while 175 people have lost their lives.
