KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) recovered all losses suffered in the previous sessions and managed to post decent gains today (Tuesday).
The benchmark KSE-100 Index remained in the green zone throughout the day, closing its day at 40,292.22, as compared to 39802.60 points on the last working day, after accumulating 490.22 points.
Appreciating by 538.19 pts the KSE 100 index touched intraday high of 40,340.79. The index settled with a gain of 490.22 pts at 40,292.82. The KMI 30 index added 726.89 points ending at 64,729.50, while the KSE All Share index closed higher by 335.39 pts at 28,266.28.
Overall market volumes improved from 371.69 million shares in the last session to 535.04 million shares (an increase of 43.95% on DoD basis).
Total 53,50,68,653 shares of 402 companies were traded. Of these, 278 companies gained and 104 lost the value of their shares, and shares value of 20 companies remained unchanged.
Global equity markets also displayed a positive trend. Crude oil prices also moved north with WTI crude oil price appreciating by 0.35% to $42.77 while Brent crude oil price increased by 0.72% to $45.97.
Sectors adding gains to the KSE 100 index included the Banking sector (93.17 pts), Oil and Gas Exploration sector (90.99 pts) and Power Generation & Distribution sector (56.48 pts). Company-wise, Hub Power Company Limited (HUBC 51.04 pts), Habib Bank Limited (HBL 34.18 pts) and United Bank Limited (UBL 27.67 pts) were top points contributors.
