LAHORE: An anti-narcotics court deferred the indictment of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah from appearing in a drug case till 12th September.
The counsel for the PML-N leader submitted a plea for exemption from personal appearance due to the ongoing session of the National Assembly.
Rana Sanaullah was asked to appear before the anti-narcotics court for the indictment. The court granted the exemption and summoned the PML-N leader to appear for indictment on 12th September.
Earlier on 7th July, a special court for Control of Narcotics Substance granted a one-time exemption to former Punjab Law Minister from personal appearance.
It may be mentioned that Rana Sanaullah was arrested in July last year by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) from the Islamabad-Lahore motorway. The ANF claimed that 15 kilograms of heroin was recovered from his car.
The ANF claimed that it had received a tip-off that the vehicle of Rana Sana was carrying a heavy quantity of drugs after which a raid was conducted. It said his guards indulged in a scuffle with them when ANF officials intercepted his vehicle.
His name has been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) in the drug recovery case. He was released on bail on 26th December. The court had ordered Sanaullah to submit two surety bonds of Rs one million each for bail.
