LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to impose a ‘micro smart lockdown’ in different parts of the province for a period of two months to further limit the spread of COVID-19.
According to details, under micro smart lockdown, small localities such as one building with multiple units or small neighborhoods would be sealed.
It must be noted that micro smart lockdown is being implemented in streets and small localities as per instructions of the federal government.
On Saturday, Punjab health officials reported 99 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of confirmed cases across the province to 96,057.
Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department said no death related to the virus was reported during the last 24 hours.
The number of people who have succumbed to the disease in the province stands at 2,188.
As many as 857,216 samples have been tested in the province to detect coronavirus infection so far, while the number of people recovered from the infection has surged to 91,134.
The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department requested people to continue taking protective steps to keep the virus at bay until it is completed weeded out.
The coronavirus has claimed 10 lives in Pakistan, bringing the total number to 6,219.
According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operations Center, 586 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 287,379.
So far, 273,579 cases of coronavirus patients have recovered in Pakistan, while the number of active cases in the country has come down to 10,626.
