KARACHI: Several areas of the metropolis have received rain with thunderstorms today (Friday) as a strong monsoon system entered the city, which will continue till Monday.
According to details, the rainfall was reported at Old City area, Defense, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Bin Qasim, Malir, Shah Latif Town, F.B. Area, and Dhabeji.
Meanwhile, rainfall also reported in various parts of the Tharparkar district. Two separate incidents of lightening strike in the desert region claimed the lives of two people including a little girl.
Earlier on Thursday, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that the low pressure over west Rajasthan in India has its trough extending up to eastern Sindh.
According to Meteorological Department thunderstorms with a few heavy falls were likely to occur at Tharparker, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Thatta, Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad, and Karachi districts.
Karachi is expected to receive more than 100mm rain from today, the weather forecast said. On the other hand, a downpour is also expected today in different cities of Punjab as well, including Lahore, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rajanpur.
