ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leaders have assured that the government will implement its complete manifesto during its five-year term.
Addressing a press conference along with other cabinet members, Information Minister Shibli Faraz said that the government has put the country on the path of development. “Good days have begun as we are turning the corner,” he added.
He further said that the country’s economy has become strong, which is evident from the COVID-19 crisis. “However, we are still facing various challenges including hoarding and smuggling, which will also be addressed,” he added.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan’s topmost priority is to reduce prices of the essential commodities and provide the best medical facilities to the people of Pakistan,” he remarked.
On the occasion, PM’s Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood asserted that the government’s steps to promote exports have helped reduce the current account deficit to $3 billion from $20 billion.
“Pakistan had received the record remittances in the month of July this year which is good news for the country’s economy,” he added.
He further said that the government had formulated a comprehensive export promotion strategy and expressed hope that the positive trend witnessed in July will continue in the months ahead.
“Ease of doing business, Made in Pakistan, tariff reforms and other policies of the government is strengthening the economy of the country,” he remarked.
State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan informed that record legislation was made in the parliament by ensuring a working relationship with the opposition.
Giving details in this regard, he said that parliament unanimously approved making it compulsory to write Khatimun Nabeen before the name of Holy Prophet in every government documents.
“Legislation was made on the teaching of Quran in Urdu, Naya Pakistan Housing Authority, Billion Tree Tsunami and to bring Pakistan out of Financial Action Task Force’s grey list,” he concluded.
Addressing the press briefing, Climate Change Minister Zartaj Gul pointed out the steps taken by the PTI government over the past two years for the protection of the environment. “These measures are also being recognized worldwide,” she asserted.
“We are also working with the Ministry of National Food Security on climate-resilient agriculture projects in order to protect this vital sector of the economy from the adverse impacts of climate change,” she added.
