ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) on Monday disconnected power supply to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman’s office over non-payment of bills.
According to the power supply company, the electricity supply main office of Public Works Department (PWD) located in Sector G-9 has also been suspended.
The power supply to the offices of the deputy director PWD and the Blue Area deputy director for street lights were also suspended.
IESCO spokesperson said power supply was suspended over non-payment of due amounting to over Rs1.40 billion, adding that CDA has not paid outstanding dues for streetlights.
The CDA spokesperson claimed that the power supply company owed it Rs8 billion while the electricity was suspended without any prior notice.
He said IESCO owes more than what the CDA owes them. He added that the power company was paid an amount to set up a different metre for streetlights.
The CDA spokesperson stated that IESCO uses the authority’s land for its offices. “IESCO owes CDA Rs8 billion. It has to pay us dues in the form of property taxes and rent for land.”
