ISLAMABAD: Director-General (DG) ISPR Major General Iftikhar Babar today (Thursday) has said that Pakistan has left no stone unturned in raising the plight of people of Kashmir before the world.
Addressing a weekly press conference, the chief of the military’s media wing briefed the people of Pakistan on various issues, including the ongoing atrocities by Indian forces in Occupied Valley and across the Line of Control (LoC).
DG ISPR said, “The federal government has raised voice on the Kashmir issue and against the oppression at all regional and international forums,” adding that international media have unmasked India’s actions while the UN secretary-general has stressed human rights in Kashmir.
“During the past year, the issue has been raised in the UN three times. This shows that the issue is of cardinal importance in the eyes of the world,” he added.
He termed independence a blessing and paid tribute to the people who participated in the Pakistan movement and leaders, particularly Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam. “Ask about the importance of freedom from the mother of an occupied Kashmir resident that buries her son with the Pakistan flag,” he added.
He further said that the worst siege in human history has been going on for a year in the occupied valley. “India, with its state sponsorism, is conducting genocide in occupied Kashmir and violating human rights in the worst possible manner,” he added.
Referring to LoC situation, DG ISPR informed that India has committed 1,927 ceasefire violations till now and has deliberately targeted peaceful people living along the LoC in Azad Kashmir.
“Despite the ceasefire appeal by the UN secretary-general during the pandemic, India continued their traditional cowardly actions and targeted innocent people,” he added.
Commenting on the Afghan peace talks, Maj Gen Iftikhar said that Pakistan had played its part for peace in Afghanistan. “We hope that attempts for the reconciliation process are soon successful,” he added.
