ISLAMABAD: The formation of the Senate, the largest decision-making body of the Federal Urdu University, is allegedly illegal, it has been revealed.
According to the constitution of the Federal Urdu University, representation of each province is mandatory but most of the senate members of the Federal Urdu University belong to Karachi.
Out of the total 20 Senate members of the University, 12 are the representatives of various government agencies, and 8 members are elected from different provinces and campuses.
The administration had not only neglected the campuses but also other provinces. Sources have informed that the administration had also given extensions to those members several times.
Sources further claimed that these members belong to a particular lobby and had forced the last four vice-chancellors to resign. However, sources said that the lobby is once again creating various conspiracies against the current acting Vice-Chancellor.
In this regard, President Dr. Arif Alvi has decided to preside over the August 19 meeting of the University Senate to address the important issues and to ensure the formation of Senators in accordance with the Constitution of the University.
