ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has demanded that changes made in Indian occupied Kashmir in violation of United Nations resolutions should be reversed.
Addressing a rally in connection with ‘Youm-e-Istehsal’, the president called upon the United Nations to fulfill its promises regarding the resolution of the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
He said that Pakistan did not accept Article 370 originally as well because it wanted the independence of Kashmir, lamenting that the Narendra Modi’s government repealed the law and changed Article 35(a) last year.
He stressed that Pakistan has always strived for peace despite Indian provocations. He said India violated Pakistani airspace but still, they returned captured Indian airforce pilot to show to the world and India they want peace not war.
He demanded the United Nations Security Council, where resolutions have been passed regarding the Kashmir issue to fulfill its promises. He also appealed to the international community and world bodies to take note of the barbaric actions of the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.
President Alvi urged the international community to press India to allow the media to enter Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir to report facts from the restive region.
He reaffirmed that the entire Pakistani nation is united and will continue efforts for the Kashmir cause. He said Kashmiris should not consider themselves alone as Pakistan will continue peaceful efforts for the realisation of their right to self-determination.
The nation is observing Youm-e-Istehsal’ to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people on completion of one year of the military siege of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The main rally in Islamabad was led by President Dr Arif Alvi while Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz also led rallies in the federal capital.
The participants wore black bands around their arms and carried flags of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. They chanted slogans against the Indian brutalities in Indian occupied Kashmir.
