NASEERABAD: A transgender person was allegedly gang-raped by at least 5 men with the ordeal being filmed in Naseerabad.
According to details, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Nasserabad Police Station. In this regard, the victim said, “They forcibly entered my house, assaulted and raped me.”
The victim was identified as Qandeel. She further said that the accused even made a video that was later shared on various WhatsApp groups. The victim has also filed an application to the police station.
In this regard, the district police took immediate action and arrested one accused. The senior officials have also formulated a strategy for the arrest of the remaining four accused.
The head of the transgender persons Saima Chaudhry has expressed satisfaction over the police performance. He also requested the police officials and Central police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi to arrest the remaining accused and provide justice to their community.
Earlier in July, Rawalpindi Police registered a case against a group of men who forced a group of transgender people to strip naked and raped them at gunpoint, after a viral video caused outrage online.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawalpindi, the accused in the video had been identified and will be arrested soon. The video that has been extensively shared online, shows the armed men trying to inappropriately touch the transgender people and chasing them.
Some reports suggest that the accused hired the transgenders to perform at a wedding ceremony, after which the abuse occurred. The clip caused outrage online as netizens demanded justice for the victims and protested against the marginalisation of transgender persons in Pakistan.
