DERBY: Pakistan will announce its 16-member squad for England Test series tomorrow, which begins on Wednesday at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Talking to journalists through a video link, head coach Misbah-ul-Haq expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparations for the England series and said that the team was in good form and ready to play.
The head coach said, “The top order’s performance was crucial to winning the match,” adding that if a team scores over 300 runs on the board in the first innings, then it had 70% chances of winning the match.
He pointed out that the series against England was an opportunity for young bowlers to exhibit their skills. “Pakistani bowlers lacked experience when compared to their counterparts,” he highlighted.
Commenting on Sohail Khan’s performance, Misbah-ul-Haq said that he was bowling well, but a combination would be made based on the prevalent conditions. “We have to move forward and not think about ourselves only,” he added.
Replying to a question regarding the spin department, the head coach said, “We plan on having two spinners in the playing squad,” adding that a player, for every department, would be picked.
Pakistan is the second Test team, after West Indies, to tour England this summer. The national team will play three tests and three T20 Internationals in bio-secure venues in Manchester and Southampton.
