KARACHI: Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) along with district municipal corporations has lifted almost 51,312 tonnes of offal during the three days of Eidul Azha in Karachi.
According to a spokesperson, the offal was removed under the Offal Removal Relief Operation. “The lifted offal is being buried at landfill sites in Jam Chakra, Gondpas, and Korangi Crossing,” he added.
In this regard, Sindh Local Government Secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh said, “Sprinkling of lime powder and disinfected spray are also being conducted by the authorities after the lifting and disposal of offal from sacrificial sites.”
The spokesperson informed that there were a total of 85 offal collection points in Karachi. “Almost 223 complaints from all six districts were received by the SSWMB during the three days of Eidul Azha,” he added.
As per SSWMB statistics, 11,475 tonnes lifted from the South district, 10,741 tonnes from East district, 10,389 tonnes from Central district, 9,012 tonnes from West district, 5,004 tonnes from Korangi district and 4,691 tonnes from Malir district.
Earlier, the Sindh government informed that people can dial 1093, the helpline of the provincial government if they have any complaint about the disposal of offal from their areas.
