ISLAMABAD: A continuous mismanagement in the Capital Development Authority (CDA) due to corruption has badly affected the planning department.

Firstly, the information of housing societies is kept secret in the CDA planning wing so that the housing societies are able to raise money from the market through illegal advertising. Even if there is an occasional inquiry, the matter gets suppressed.

More than 100 illegal housing societies in Islamabad’s zone 4 are engaged in looting, while a few housing societies belong to the influential land mafia, including several societies like Bahria Enclave, Park View Housing Society, Islamabad Model Town, Ghauri Town which have been issued conditional LOPs and dubious NOCs by the CDA due to which many complex cases are pending in various courts.
Officers based primarily in the CDA planning work for the interests of Park View City are reportedly a key PTI figure while other housing projects that are full of anonymous properties are under the CDA’s corrupt officials who raise funds with the help of non-extension of laws.
Sources said that Director Regional Planning Arshad Chauhan’s political affiliation is with a prominent figure of a religious party in Dera Ismail Khan.
