MANCHESTER: Stuart Broad’s 500th Test wicket sent England on the way to completing a series victory over West Indies in the third and final Test at Old Trafford today (Tuesday).
Broad finished with match figures of 10-67, as the West Indies were bowled out for 129 runs. England beat West Indies by 269 runs and took the series 2-1 to regain the Wisden Trophy they lost in the Caribbean last year.
West Indies lost two wickets of their second innings on Sunday while chasing 399 runs. They were 10-2 at the close. Monday’s play was washed out but Broad bowl superbly today (Tuesday) and leads his team to a series win. On the other hand, Chris Woakes claimed 5-50 as well,
The 34-year-old Broad had taken the last four wickets of West Indies’ first innings and the first three of their second innings in a dominant performance.
Talking to journalists, Stuart board said, “It was very special to have got (500 wickets) and even more so to help win a Test that helps to win the series for us.”
England won the first Test series since the Covid-19 pandemic and will play three one-day internationals against Ireland in the next week before the first of three Tests against Pakistan begins on 5 August.
