ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Friday unanimously passed a resolution expressing solidarity with Kashmiri resistance leader and Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson Aasiya Andrabi.
The resolution was moved by Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed condemning moving her to the isolation punishment ward of the notorious Tihar jail in New Delhi.
The Upper House sees this action of Modi regime against an innocent person, whose only crime is raising her voice for freedom of Occupied Kashmir.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz demanded her immediate release, saying the prolonged detention of Asiya Andrabi is a matter of grave concern.
In a tweet, the minister said the imprisonment of a weak and sick Muslim woman on the basis of political ideology is a reflection of the imperialist mentality of the Indian state.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi has welcomed the resolution and said that the entire Pakistani nation and conscious people across the world support them.
Aasiya Andrabi, her aide Nahida Nasreen and media secretary Sofi Fehmeeda, are lodged in India’s infamous Tihar jail for the last three years after the fascist Indian regime booked the trio in false cases.
He urged the United Nations Secretary-General and other human rights forums to take cognizance of the shifting of the trio to punishment cell in Tihar Jail. He deplored that Kashmiri freedom activists who were actually ‘prisoners of conscience’ were being treated like top criminals.
Afridi said that such extreme measures employed by the Indian fascist regime would never discourage the brave Kashmiri freedom-loving people and rather the flame of freedom would get stronger in the hearts of the people of Kashmir.
He reiterated the resolve that Pakistan would continue its support for Kashmiri people in their legitimate struggle for freedom and self-determination.
