WASHINGTON: The number of coronavirus infection cases has surged to 15,941,806 across the world.
The coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed over 642,751 lives. As per the latest data, 9,724,289 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far.
The United States tops with nearly 4,248,327 cases and more than 148,490 deaths followed by Brazil with over 2,348,200 cases and more than 85,385 deaths.
India has reported 1,337,022 cases while 31,406 deaths due to the coronavirus. The country has the third-highest number of recorded infections in the world.
Over 800,849 people have infected while 13,046 people died of the virus in Russia. South Africa has become one of the top five worst-hit countries in the coronavirus pandemic as the country reported over 421,996 infections. The country reported 6,343 deaths.

Mexico has reported 42,645 deaths and 378,285 cases. Peru has reported 375,961 cases while 17,843 deaths.
In Chile, nearly 341,304 cases were confirmed, including more than 8,914 deaths. Spain has recorded 28,432 fatalities and 319,501 infections.
The United Kingdom has reported 45,677 fatalities and 297,914 infections. Meanwhile, the death toll is 15,289 in Iran as the confirmed number of cases is almost 286,523.
Saudi Arabia has reported 262,772 cases of coronavirus, while 2,672 coronavirus deaths have been reported. Italy has 35,097 fatalities, while 245,590 infections.
Turkey reported 224,252 coronavirus cases and 5,580 fatalities. Germany has reported 9,201 deaths and 205,960 infections.
France has reported 30,192 deaths and 180,528 cases. Canada reported 8,881 fatalities and 113,206 infections due to coronavirus.
