KARACHI: It has been revealed that more than a hundred ghost contract employees in District Municipality Corporation (DMC) East Karachi have been serving the civic entity for the past several years.
According to details, over 100 ghost contract employees are receiving salaries under the alleged patronage of the district administration. Sources informed that the Municipal Commissioner at the behest of Chairman Moeed Anwar has illegally promoted a corrupt officer to two important posts.
At the behest of Chairman DMC East Moeed Anwar, the budget officer also approached the anti-corruption department to save the former in-charge of the Parole department.
It is pertinent to mention here that the allegedly corrupt officer was removed from the Parole officer on the request of trade unions. Anti-corruption establishment had also summoned the corrupt officer several times.
Earlier, the trade unions including the United Workers Front and other People’s Labor Unions had disclosed the presence of ghost contract employees in separate applications. The Anti-Corruption Department had also raided the Parole Department in the wake of ghost contract employees.
Sources earlier revealed that more than 1000 ghost employees in DMC Central Karachi had been serving the civic entity for the past several years.
According to the sources, over 1000 ghost employees were receiving salaries under the alleged patronage of the director in the Central Municipality’s Sanitation and Drainage (Solid Waste) Department.
