ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The city’s administration has imposed Section 144 in Karachi and Islamabad against illegally-formed cattle markets amid the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
According to details, the cities’ administration has urged the citizens to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the Eid-ul-Adha as more than 700 cattle markets will be operational across Pakistan.
In this regard, Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani has clarified that if a cattle market set up without prior permission from the city’s administration would be deemed illegal.
“The administration will not allow buying and selling of sacrificial animals apart from the designated cattle markets,” Commissioner Karachi informed.
On the other hand, the local administration in Islamabad has imposed a ban on the buying and selling of animals within the city limits ahead of Eid ul Adha. The federal administration has also imposed Section 144 against illegal cattle markets in the capital.
The federal administration has strictly ordered the citizens to follow the rules and said that sacrificial animals can be bought only from designated venues.
Earlier on July 15, the Sindh government had allowed the establishment of cattle markets across the province ahead of Eid-ul-Azha under strict compliance with the coronavirus-related standard operating procedures (SOPs).
As per details, the decision came during a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on the setting up of cattle markets.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had also issued directives for the strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cattle markers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha to contain the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
