KARACHI: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged to 265,083 in Pakistan, while the death toll stands at 5,599.
According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 1,587 cases of coronavirus were reported while 31 people died due to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 205,929 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
Out of the total number of infections, Sindh reported 113,007, around 90,191 cases in Punjab, 32,086 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,436 in Balochistan, 14,599 Islamabad, 1,849 in Gilgit Baltistan and 1,915 in Azad Kashmir.

Out of a total of 5,599 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 1,142 deaths, Sindh 1,993, Balochistan 132, Gilgit-Baltistan 43, Punjab 2,083, Azad Kashmir 47 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 159 death.
Last week, Pakistan edged past Italy to become the 11th worst-hit country by the COVID-19 pandemic, powered by a surge in new infections across the country.
Though, Health Ministry data said that Pakistan’s daily coronavirus tally continued to fall, as the country recorded only 1,579 new cases over the past 24 hours, the lowest single-day sum since May.
Health experts, however, cautioned that a sharp fall in the number of COVID-19 cases could be the result of fewer tests.
