1. The Bawarchi Catering

Since pulao is an integral part of Pakistan, a variety of pulao recipes have emerged and cherished especially in Karachi. Situated at Qayyumabad’s sector C, the Bawarchi Catering does not just sell a simple pulao, but rather a green pulao blended in green masala (spices).

“The reason our pulao develops a special taste is that it is only cooked in green spices, we do not add any other spice not even red chili.”

They prepare pulao with calf meat.”We believe in quality and quantity,” they claimed. The amazing aroma, the clean presentation, all indicated how keen the joint is on great food. They sell beef pulao at Rs. 400 per kg and a single plate is sold at Rd.100.

2. New Al-Fatima (NA) Food 

“We are in this field for 25 years now,” the owner tells me proudly sharing how they started the joint from a small stall and by the grace of God now they own New Al-Fatima Food at phase 2 DHA. “Our pulao is essence-free and cooked in desi masala only.” 

“We prepare the pulao in chicken and beef.” They prefer basmati rice for cooking pulao, “We use basmati, it’s unique rice which is used by few in Karachi.” 

This joint sells chicken pulao at Rs. 200 and Rs. 300 for beef pulao.

3. Yahya Biryani Centre

As mentioned on its logo, Yahya Biryani Centre has been selling the best pulao in Shah Faisal Colony since 1980. “Pulao is cooked in beef only. It is what that makes our pulao special,” the worker of the restaurant said. Well, indeed the marvelous aroma did indicate their broth is made of pure beef.

Aside from beef pulao, what makes the place’s pulao special from others was superb rice; the quality, the taste was simply amazing.”Our pulao is cooked with basmati rice,” they said.

“Our restaurant was the first in introducing the Matka pulao.” After introducing the new dish with a twist, the joint rose to more fame.

Yahya sells its pulao at Rs.200 for a single plate, Rs. 500 for 2 persons and for 4 people, it is sold at Rs. 1000.
