KARACHI: In order to restore the routine flight operations, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to increase its number of domestic flight operations in major cities of the country.
According to details, PIA operations are on track to be restored amid coronavirus lockdown and restrictions. The national carrier has increased flights to Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta.
PIA has decided to run two daily flights between Islamabad and Karachi, while a daily flight between Lahore and Karachi.
A PIA’s spokesperson informed that two-way flights will be scheduled between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).”Relief operations are underway for the repatriation of Pakistanis from other countries,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson further informed that special flights to Saudi Arabia, Central Asian states, and Iraq were being maintained along with all precautionary measures.
The national carrier has also reduced domestic fares. The one-way fare from Karachi to Islamabad has been fixed to Rs. 9572. Similarly, the one-way fare between Karachi and Lahore has also fixed to Rs 9572.
Earlier, it was revealed that PIA had suffered losses of billions of rupees due to suspension of its flight operations to Europe, US, and UK over pilots’ scandal.
