KARACHI: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged to 246,351 in Pakistan, while the death toll stands at 5,123.
According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 3,359 cases of coronavirus were reported while 65 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours. As many as 149,092 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
Around 674 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) surfaced in Punjab in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections thus far reported in the province to 85,261.
Pakistan on Friday edged past Italy to become the 11th worst-hit country by the COVID-19 pandemic, powered by a surge in new infections across the country.

Out of the total number of infections, Sindh reported 102,368, around 85,591 cases in Punjab, 29,775 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,128 in Balochistan, 13,927 Islamabad, 1,630 in Gilgit Baltistan and 1,532 in Azad Kashmir.
Out of a total of 5,123 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 1,045 deaths, Sindh 1,637, Balochistan 124, Gilgit-Baltistan 32, Punjab 1,955, Azad Kashmir 40 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 140 death.
