ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Senator Shibli Faraz has said that corrupt practices during previous governments have deteriorated the performance of national institutions.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad today (Saturday), Senator Shibli Faraz said that the federal government was committed to bringing reforms in all national institutions. “Opposition’s diatribe in this regard will not distract the government,” he added.
Commenting on the coronavirus situation, the Senator informed that the federal government has handled the coronavirus pandemic effectively. “The coronavirus curve is now flattening due to the prudent policies and timely action,” he added.
Replying to a question related to the country’s economy, the Federal Minister said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has appreciated our initiatives and the nation will hear good news soon.
On the occasion, the Chairman Prime Minister’s Inspection Team, Ahmad Yar Hiraj informed that under the reforms agenda of the government, the Inspection Commission had completed 24 inspections during the past 18 months.
“The reports of these inspections have been sent to the Prime Minister and actions are being taken against the culprits involved in corruption,” he added.
Ahmad Yar Hiraj further said that the government was paying the cost of corrupt practices that have been committed by the employees of different institutions during the previous governments. “Recommendations regarding reforms in AGPR were also sent to the Prime Minister,” he added.
“The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also been directed to take action against the employees of AGPR who were involved in malpractices,” he informed. Ahmad Yar Hiraj also expressed hope that within a few months, AGPR performance will improve.
