KARACHI: Nation remembers renowned humanitarian and social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi on his fourth death anniversary today.
The legendary philanthropist and celebrated humanitarian, Abdul Sattar Edhi, o founded the world’s largest volunteer ambulance network and devoted his life to the poor and the destitute died at the age of 92 in Karachi following a prolonged illness.
He was buried with a national flag wrapped around his coffin and guard of honor. Edhi was born in 1928, and migrated to Pakistan in 1947 along with his family and dedicated his life to the poor from the age of 20.
At present, the foundation runs more than 300 welfare centers across the country that operate as food kitchens, rehabilitation homes, shelters for abandoned women and children, and clinics for the mentally handicapped.
