KARACHI: More than 1000 ghost employees in District Central Karachi have been serving the civic entity for the past several years, it has been revealed.
According to details, more than 1000 ghost employees are receiving salaries under the alleged patronage of the director in the Central Municipality’s Sanitation and Drainage (Solid Waste) Department.
The garbage continues to pile up along roadsides in the District Central. Residents of the district are left at the risks of waterborne diseases, mosquito- and fly-borne diseases, skin infections, conjunctivitis, and other diseases.
Relevant sources informed that due to the alleged corruption of Director General Sanitation Muhammad Ali, District Central has reached the brink of disaster. Sources further informed that several political people are patronizing Director-General Sanitation despite substandard performance.
Sources also informed that the machinery and vehicles of the department have also deteriorated, the repair of which is limited to paperwork due to fake billing.
The DMC representatives are reaping huge financial benefits from Muhammad Ali’s appointment and are forcing Rehan Hashmi not to remove Muhammad Ali despite complaints. Sources have also informed that Vice Chairman Shakir Ali is also patronizing Director-General Sanitation Muhammad Ali.
