KARACHI: Famous Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has grieved over religious discrimination as he spoke up against religious intolerance in Pakistani society.
On a social media website Twitter, Hamza said that Pakistan is a Muslim majority nation-state and everyone who had resided in the boundary of Pakistan on August 14, 1947, became an equal citizen of the country.
“Pakistan is not an empire/kingdom. We Muslims didn’t CONQUER Pakistan; we are a Muslim Majority Nation-State. On 14th August 1947 every 1 who resided in the boundary of PAK BECAME AN EQUAL CITIZEN, [sic]” he added.

His comments come after a completely unnecessary controversy has been created on the construction of a temple in Islamabad. The move which should have appreciated for promoting tolerance and religious harmony has now been mired in controversy and efforts are being made to stop it.
The Islamabad High Court was approached and the construction has been stopped. The right-wing was perturbed over the use of public funds and land allotment for the project. Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved Rs100 million for the project but the petitioner wanted it stopped.
