ISLAMABAD: The federal police today (Thursday) have arrested three people for impersonating them as journalists in Islamabad.
As per details, Muhammad Banaras had filed a complaint against the three suspects with Golra Police Station. During investigation, they were found to be involved in other crimes as well.
According to the plaintiff, the three suspects stopped his car and pretended to be journalists. They started beating the plaintiff and his driver and looted mobile phones, Rs 62,000 and 3 drums of diesel.
The plaintiff further claimed that the arrested suspects, on the spot, accused him of stealing diesel. However, he said, he owned a petrol pump and run his machinery through his own purchased diesel.
The federal police have registered a case against the three accused on the charges of forgery. The police claimed to have recovered several ‘press cards’ from them.
Earlier in February, Police arrested an imposter in the Defence Housing Authority for carrying several cards of media organisations and getting affixed a ‘press’ sticker on his car.
The Gizri police signalled a car (ACM-278) in Defence to stop. As the vehicle stopped, the driver identified himself as Ghulam Rasool and started using foul language and threatening the police.
He said he was a ‘journalist’, but upon verification, it transpired that he was a ‘fake’ media person, said Gizri SHO Rizwan Hyder. A case was registered against him at the Gizri police station.
