ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Shibli Faraz has said that the federal government has asked all airlines of the country to ensure transparency in procedures and licensing of pilots.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, Faraz said that pilots with dubious credentials have been grounded forthwith.
He said the pilots whose licenses were found to be suspicious have been terminated from service. He mentioned five employees of CAA have also been grounded until the process is completed. He said, “Degrees of all airline staff will be verified.”
The list of pilots to be grounded had been sent to airlines and would also be available on the civil aviation website. The minister said all the airlines and clubs had been told that “these pilots shouldn’t be permitted to fly anymore, ” Faraz added.
He said the PIA management had completed inquiry against 28 pilots; moreover, 9 of them have also admitted having fake licenses.
Citing the cabinet meeting, the minister maintained that the cabinet also approved three projects like the Kohala Hydro Power project. He said PM Imran Khan has instructed the officials to work on renewable energy schemes.
The prime minister directed to activate provincial finance commission in order for equitable development in all parts of provinces in an organized way and without any undue influence, he added.
Shibli Faraz said this will also help remove the sense of deprivation among residents of different areas in a province. He said the PM instructed to form a committee to look into public sector projects to be undertaken on reduced costs and improved quality.
The committee will submit its report in 90 days to the PM Imran. “The welfare of the people is the government’s first priority. We will keep trying to provide them relief,” he added.
