KARACHI: Theatre artists have appealed to the provincial government to lift lockdown restrictions as they are suffering financially.
According to details, comedians Saleem Afridi and Shakeel Shah discussed economic issues during their meeting with the Chairman of Central Municipality Rehan Hashmi.
The comedians argued that the lockdown that followed the coronavirus outbreak has left professionals and particularly the daily wagers in dire straits.
“Daily wagers such as makeup artists, light operators, sound technicians, security guards, and people from various fields who earn on a daily basis to meet their needs are starving,” they added.
Furthermore, the actors assured the government that all productions would strictly comply with the relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government.
On the occasion, chairman of the Central Municipality said, “Artists are an important part of our society. Artists who put smiles on the faces of the people should be saved from starvation.” Rehan Hashmi also assured the comedians in this regard. Both the artists thanked Rehan Hashmi for his support.
It is worth mentioning here that due to the coronavirus lockdown in Pakistan, artists associated with various industries, including theater, are suffering from economic problems.
