On Tuesday the Pakistan Cricket Board had said a total of 10 players, including Hafeez, had tested positive for the COVID-19 ahead of Pakistan’s tour to England.
Other players who tested positive for the virus include Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan, and Wahab Riaz.
Apart from the seven players, one support personnel — the masseur — also contracted the virus after the cricket body had 35 tests conducted for COVID-19 in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar.
According to sources, experienced players are expelled from the national team under conspiracies, Mohammad Hafeez’s test reports have also questioned the reputation of Shaukat Khanum.
Sources also disclosed that “Shaukat Khanum Hospital has been given faulty kits which are not suitable for COVID-19 test”.
On the other hand, Sports circles suspected that “It seems that a game is being played inside the PCB board to remove Mohammad Hafeez from the national team, but the end of this story is still far away”.
Questions are also being raised regarding the tests of the national team players. Sources said, “If the tests of all the affected players are done in a private laboratory, the truth will come out”.
