LAHORE: The Punjab government has ordered the local administration no to allow the establishment of cattle markets in urban areas due to the rising number of coronavirus cases in the province.
According to details, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has raised concerns over the increase in coronavirus cases. In this regard, the provincial government has decided to seal more affected areas of Lahore.
CM Usman Buzdar said cattle markets will not be established within urban areas. He further directed the concerned authorities to take action against the hoarders of medicines.
The Chief Minister also directed the authorities to constitute a committee to look into complaints regarding the private hospitals involved in overcharging patients. “Strict action will be taken against such hospitals in this regard,” he added.
Commenting on the testing capacity, CM Punjab informed that the testing capacity of the province has reached 12,000 per day whereas, the total count of coronavirus patients reached 68,308.
The chief minister said that the high-dependency units (HDU) have been increased to 1,228 from 671 in the provincial capital Lahore. The oxygen beds in Rawalpindi hospitals were also increased to 607 from 227, he added.
Usman Buzdar also announced that the special assistance will be given to the families of officers who have lost their lives while performing duties.
