WASHINGTON: There are now more new cases of the coronavirus reported each day around the world despite imposing lockdown across the countries.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has crossed 8.76 million. Around the world, the pandemic has killed more than 462,688 people and infected over 8,765,473.
According to the latest data, 4,627,860 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far. In the United States, nearly 2,297,190 cases were confirmed, including more than 121,407 deaths.
Brazil now has the second-highest number of recorded infections in the world after the United States with 1,038,568 cases and 49,090 fatalities.
Over 569,063 people have infected while 7,841 people died of the virus in Russia. The country has the third-highest number of recorded infections in the world.
India has reported 395,812 cases while 12,970 deaths due to the coronavirus. The United Kingdom has reported 42,461 fatalities and 301,815 infections.
Spain has recorded 28,315 fatalities and 292,655 infections. Peru has reported 247,925 cases while 7,660 deaths.
Italy has 34,561 fatalities, while 238,011 infections. In Chile, nearly 231,393 cases were confirmed, including more than 4,093 deaths.
Meanwhile, the death toll is 9,392 in Iran as the confirmed number of cases is almost 200,262. Germany has reported 8,960 deaths and 190,660 infections.
Turkey reported 185,245 coronavirus cases and 4,905 fatalities. France has reported 29,617 deaths, and 159,452 cases.
China has declared 4,634 deaths and 83,352 cases, with 78,410 recoveries. In Belgium, 9,695 people succumbed to the disease while reported 60,476 cases due to the coronavirus.
