ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated that bringing important national organizations out of loss and making them stable was the topmost priority of the PTI-led federal government.
The statement came during a high-level meeting in Islamabad today (Friday) regarding reforms in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The Prime Minister said that the burden of loss of state-owned entities was ultimately borne by the people, therefore the reform process needs to be further intensified.
“In order to make a national institution functional and profitable, it is necessary to expedite administrative reforms as well as ensure efficient utilization of all available resources in a transparent manner,” PM Imran added.
The premier also directed the concerned authorities to respond effectively in this regard in accordance with a detailed and comprehensive strategy.
PM Imran was apprised that during the tenure of the incumbent PIA management, the losses of the national flag carrier were significantly reduced.
Authorities informed PM Imran that PIA had come in a position to operate flights without incurring any losses, but coronavirus situation has hampered these efforts.
The meeting also reviewed progress on reforms to protect national airlines from losses and to make the organization profitable and modern.
