UNITED STATES: Famous Pakistani actress, Sabiha Khanum has passed away in the United States at the age of 84, confirmed her family sources.
According to her family, she was suffering from renal disease. Mukhtar Begum filmi name Sabiha Khanum was proved her to be one of the most successful models of fame in the Pakistan film industry.
She is remembered as the First Lady of Pakistan’s silver screen. She was the senior-most film actress and the history of Pakistani films would be incomplete without here.
The famous stage drama writer, poet Nafees Khalili had introduced her in his stage drama But Shikkan. Her first film which gave her success was Director Anwar Kemal Pasha’s ‘Do Aansoo’ in which she had played a lead role against Santosh Kumar. Do Aansoo was the first-ever silver jubilee hit Urdu movie in Pakistan.
Sabiha played a lead role as the first heroine in many films in the 50s and 60s. People can never forget her roles in Hassan Tariq’s Tehzeeb and then “Ik Gunah Aur Sahi”.
She gave award-winning performances in films during the 1980s and 1990s as well. There are some excellent television dramas to her credit also.
In most of her movies, Sabiha played the lead roles along with her husband, late Santosh Kumar (Syed Musa Raza), playing the lead role opposite her. The government of Pakistan conferred upon her the Pride of Performance award in 1986.
