ISLAMABAD: A senior Indian diplomat on Wednesday was summoned to lodge Pakistan’s strong protest over the ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC).
Earlier, Indian troops resorted to firing in Jandrot Sector resulting in serious injuries to four innocent civilians on Tuesday evening.
Due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian occupation forces, a 26- year-old Nasreen Akhtar, resident of Sandhara village, Rabia, 24, Momina 7, residents of Dera Sher Khan village and Munshi 24, resident of Bamroch village sustained serious injuries.
A statement issued by Foreign Office spokesperson, in 2020, India has so far committed 1,296 ceasefire violations resulting in seven casualties and injuries to 98 innocent civilians.
Indian forces have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working Boundary, the statement read.
The FO statement further said that these violations by India are a threat to ‘regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
“The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws,” the statement added.
Pakistan urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire and instructed them to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
