PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday slammed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other government officials for their poor performance in controlling the petrol crisis.
During a hearing related to the petroleum crisis, Justice Qaiser Rashid of PHC said that the whole country was suffering due to the petrol crisis but it seemed like no one cared.
“I feel quite disappointed at ministers performance who only attend meetings and avail perks,” Qaiser Rashid added.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority representative, who was also present during the hearing, said that an inquiry committee had been formed which would take severe action against those who found guilty.
On which Justice Rashid responded angrily and said that when the government wishes to play down an issue, it forms a committee.
He criticized NAB for not focusing enough on the food and petrol crises prevalent in the province.
He remarked, chairman NAB takes notice of every issue but is silent on the petrol and flour crises.
He said “NAB only takes interest in cases it wants to. Something should be done in the interest of the people as well,” he added.
He instructed the secretary petroleum, DG NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to present themselves before the court in the next hearing.
The shortage of petroleum products was witnessed in major parts of the country due to limited supplies of fuel to retail outlets by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
Earlier, Expressing serious concerns over the ongoing artificial shortage of petroleum products across the country, PM Khan had ordered strict action against those behind it.
