LAHORE: Administration of Mayo Hospital Lahore has allegedly refused to release the body over a payment dispute.
According to details, the woman was admitted to the surgical tower of Mayo Hospital a day earlier and she died in the middle of her treatment.
In a video message, her son named Hafiz Saqib claimed that the hospital administration was unaware of her mother’s death. “Around 6:00 pm, doctors informed us that our mother was recovering from the disease,” he claimed.
He further said that later he went inside the ward in order to provide a meal to his mother but the hospital staff – present at that time – informed him that his mother had passed away three hours ago.
In this regard, he said, “I had provided my contact number in case of any emergency,” adding, “however, the hospital administration didn’t inform me.”
“What should we pay for?” he questioned. The hospital administration has demanded Rs 5 lakh for the body.
People across the country are already facing a financial crisis due to the previously imposed lockdown to contain the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
