RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police, who were playing a frontline role during the coronavirus pandemic, distributed rations worth millions of rupees through contribution among the poor and deserving families.
As per details, cash contributions were received from all officers and employees according to their ranks and salaries on the instructions of Rawalpindi CPO.
In this regard, Rawalpindi CPO informed that the funds were being collected in order to help the poor people of the city due to lockdown.
Police sources informed that the Rawalpindi police have so far provided more than 1,700 ration packs to members of the Christian community, transgender community, and other vulnerable segments of the society such as widows and deserving families.
Rawalpindi CPO said that the police stand with people in this critical time and every personnel was performing duties with responsibility. He said that every possible effort would be made to help the poor.
Earlier, the district police of Bahawalnagar distributed ration among the needy people of the city. Face masks and hand sanitisers were also distributed among the people.
