KARACHI: Bulls at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) drove the market upwards on Monday as indices traded in green all day long while volumes improved from last session.
The optimistic sentiments prevailed following ease in lockdown and opening of various businesses all around the country. Foreign investors closed the outgoing week as net sellers with a net outflow of $15.27 million.
With a gain of 419.02 points, the KSE 100 index marked its intraday high of 34,769.44. It closed after gathering 399.15 points at 34,749.57. The total volume of shares was 144.06 million valued at Rs6.979 billion.
The lower bench KSE 30 index gained by 169.77 (1.13 percent) and closed at 15,170.66 points. The total volume of shares was 74.432 million.
The KMI 30 index settled at 55,797.31 after appreciating by 622.17 points, while the KSE All Share index ended higher by 237.93 points at 24,851.95.
Out of total scripts exchanged 205 advanced and 102 declined. The overall volumes jumped from 89.07 million in last session to 222.14 million. TRG Pakistan (TRG +4.84%) turned out as the volume leader with 19.50 million shares.
It was followed by Pakistan Refinery Limited Right Shares (PRLR1 -13.41%) and Hascol Petroleum (HASCOL +2.93%). The scripts had 18.84 million shares and 13.14 million shares traded, respectively.
The sectors adding to gains of the KSE 100 index included Oil and Gas Exploration sector (+133.06 points), Banking sector (+85.18 points) and Cement sector (+52.10 points).
Company wise, MCB Bank (MCB +52.40 points), Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL +51.20 points) and United Bank (UBL +36.10 points) were top points contributors.
With an addition of 3.06 percent in its cumulative market capitalisation, the Technology and Communication sector was the top gainer of the session.
TRG Pakistan Limited (TRG +4.84%), Systems Limited (SYS +7.50%), NetSol Technologies Limited (NETSOL +1.91%) and Hum Network Limited (HUMNL +8.79%) all closed positive.
